R2 VLCD Day 43: +2 TOM

March 24, 2010

Today’s Weight: 157.4
LIW:  154.4
Today’s change: +2

TOM has arrived, I was right on the money.  I’m not going to freak over the gain,  it’s TOM related and it’ll come off.  Today is my last VLCD day and I’m contemplating doing a mini steak day.  Actually I think I will give it a shot.  So onward with the day.

My meals yesterday:  Nothing in the morning.  Sashimi for lunch.  3 dirty vodka martinis at a work related happy hour.  4 oz filet mignon with salad for dinner.

I had a blast at happy hour and I don’t regret indulging in the martinis at all.  What girl wouldn’t have a blast having drinks with three good looking men??  It was fun :-)    I took care yesterday morning to dress up and look gorgeous.  I haven’t seen one of the guys in months and when he saw me his eyes got big and his mouth dropped – he didn’t say anything until later but the expression on his face said puh-lenty!   And what he said later, after leaning kind of close to my ear, was:  You look absolutely fantastic.

It was awesome.

R2 VLCD Day 42: +.8

Today’s Weight: 155.4
Today’s change: +.8

Alrighty my peeps, I am ending this round.  After reviewing my last TOM dates I realized that I’m up against my next one – which explains the flaky losses as well as my flaky emotional state.  And I don’t want to do one more (last) week and have it affected by TOM, which it obviously would be.  So, Sunday morning was my last injection for this round.  My LIW is 154.4.

Even though I’m disappointed in not reaching 145 pounds I’m ok with it.  I was reading through my blog last night and realized that I’ve had a sliding scale kind of goal – the more weight I lose, the lower my final goal gets.  I’m already down lower than what I thought I could and would be by now.  I have remind myself to recognize my success, and not my failures.  Self:  good job!

What this means ultimately is another round.  I’m ok with that too.  Hopefully I’ll be able to do a short round for R3.  This break, according to Dr S, will be 4 weeks of P3 and 4 weeks of P4. *Sigh*.

My meals:  1 whole apple in the morning.  I took a can of albacore tuna and some grape tomatoes to work for lunch and could not find a cussing can opener *anywhere*.  So I ran to Wendy’s and bought a grilled chicken ceaser salad.  I did not have the croutons but I did have the dressing and the parmasan cheese.  Prompted by PMS?  Probably.  We’ll see if I’m right, I’d bet $100 TOM comes in the next couple of days.  At dinner I was freaking starving so I had 100 grams tilapia AND 3 shrimp, and a huge ass pile of steamed spinach.

VLC Day 40: Lunch (Sashimi and Daikon Radish)

Today’s Weight: 154.4
Today’s change: -.2
Total R2 weight lost: 24.7
Body fat / Daily change: 26.3/ -0
BMI / Daily change: 22.9/ -0

NOTE:  I haven’t taken my body fat and BMI readings in a few days because I can’t find my monitor thingy.  Hopefully I’ll find it soon.

For real?  This sucks.  I feel like the last whole week has been a wasted effort – I’ve only lost 1.2 pounds in the whole last week! WTF!  I’m mixing a new batch of HCG this morning but if this pattern holds I’m not sure it’s worth continuing.   I’ll see how the next few days go.

If I have to do another round to reach goal, then so be it.  I’ll just have to put my frustrations in a bubble and blow them away.

On a happier note, I had a blast last night – went out country dancing with my girlfriend – we had so much fun and danced with tall cowboys until 2 am.  I wonder if that affected the scale – I danced ALOT, to the point that my thighs and ass are sore this morning.  Also I don’t think I had enough water yesterday.  Whatever.

My meals:  1/2 apple mid-morning.  Sashimi for lunch again. 1/2 apple mid-afternoon.  For dinner I made chicken soup with:  organic NSA chicken broth, savoy cabbage, black pepper, white pepper, organic garlic and onion powder, and organic poultry seasoning.  I simmered all that until the cabbage was tender  and then added my grilled chicken.

VLCD Day 39: Dinner (Shrimp and Cabbage with Green Curry Powder - YUM!)

Today’s Weight: 154.6
Today’s change: -.2
Total R2 weight lost: 24.5
Body fat / Daily change: 26.3/ -0
BMI / Daily change: 22.9/ -0

If you can believe it – I’m STILL having back pain.  I get better, then I get worse again.  Thankfully I don’t get as bad as I was last week, it’s more a nagging pain now instead of an excruciating one.   My chiropractor loves me.

My meals:  1/2 an apple mid-morning.  Sashimi and daikon radish for lunch – you’ve heard me say it before , I want sashimi all the time.  Nothing for mid-afternoon snack.  For dinner I actually whipped up a new concoction.  It’s shocking that I didn’t resort to my standard Zip-n-Steam bag for dinner!   I sautéed 2 cups of chopped cabbage in a skillet with a bit of water, some green curry power, garlic powder, a little anise, and a dash of Braggs.  Once the cabbage was almost done I threw in 100 grams of chopped shrimp and stirred it around a couple of minutes until the shrimp were pink and done.  It was *very* good.    I’d have this again.  Any kind of curry powder would do in this recipe, and it could even just be left out.  Substitute chicken for the shrimp if your heart desires :-)   I really wanted shrimp for dinner, despite the fact that I don’t seem to lose well on it.  And that proved itself true once again with a .2 loss.

One thing I have neglected to mention previously is that I have been able to find some fabulous spices at World Market.  They have an incredible gourmet food section.  When I’m looking for new spices to try I make sure that the the ingredients contain no sugar or carbs or anything that’s simply weird or questionable or  freakishly hard to pronounce (like:  Sodium Aluminum Phosphate, Monocalcium Phosphate, or Dextrose, etc, etc etc).  Read labels! Ingredients like “fenugreek” or  don’t bother me so much, I at least recognize it and  know that’s a natural herb.  Even if it is a weird herb ;-)

World Market is where I found the green curry powder – and I looved it, which is no surprise because I love Thai green curry.  Especially when it’s got the fat laden-coconut milk in it.  Soooo cussin’ good.  P3, baby – that’s when I’ll be making  a low carb version of Thai green curry.

Wishing you great losses and a great weeekend!

VLCD Day 38: Dinner (Tilapia and asparagus)

Today’s Weight: 154.8
Today’s change: -1.8
Total R2 weight lost: 24.3
Body fat / Daily change: 26.3/ -0
BMI / Daily change: 22.9/ -0

It’s getting harder – I guess because the last three days were kind of bummer days on the scale (but *today* was better, thank goodness!).  I’m anxious to be  finished don’tcha know.  And I’ve gotten this attitude both rounds during the last week or two – just ready to be done with it.   I want a cheeseburger!  And chicken fried steak!  And mexican food (REAL mexican food, like enchiladas, rice and beans, and a chili relleno).   Maybe even some ice cream.  Hell, screw the ice cream,  I want a margarita.

But not yet.  I’ll get there soon enough.  For now I need to hold tight to my conviction to see this through.  I can do this.  I will do this.

Just for self-encouragement – I am within a couple of pounds of getting into my beloved asian embroidered jeans that I have rambled on about since I started this in October of last year.  And by “getting into” I mean putting them on and being able to breathe and wear a t-shirt with no muffin top.  So close I can taste it.

My meals:  yerba mate/detox/green tea combo in the morning.  1 whole apple mid-morning.  Grilled chicken over lettuce for lunch with my sweet mustard dressing.  No mid-afternoon snack.  As soon as I got home from work I had another serving of my tea combo – I tried to drink it early due to the caffeine.  If there’s once thing I *do not* need help with it’s exacerbation of my insomnia (which I experienced in great agony night before last).  For dinner I made tilapia and asparagus in a zip-n-steam bag – IMAGINE THAT :-) .

TGIF peeps, hugs to you all on this fine Friday!

VLCD Day 37: Dinner (Tilapia with spinach a few cherry tomatoes)

Today’s Weight: 156.6
Today’s change: +1.2
Total R2 weight lost: 22.5
Body fat / Daily change: 26.3/ -0
BMI / Daily change: 22.9/ -0

Two fruits today and I mixed veggies again.  Obviously the scale was not happy with that.  I’m wondering if I’m retaining water too – I usually pee constantly at work (sorry if this is TMI) but today was not like that.  I had my usual crapload of water too.  I’ve had two days of low/no weight loss and now a gain.  *Sigh* Oh well.  I’m not giving up.  These last 10 pounds will not be easy and I didn’t expect them to be.  My plan today:  back to 1 fruit only.  No veggie mixing.  Only green veggies (asparagus/spinach/lettuce) since I seem to lose best on them.  Tons of water.  My detox tea  made with 1 yerba mate tea bag, 1 green tea bag, 1 dandelion root teabag.

My meals:  8 strawberries in the morning.  Grilled chicken and cucumbers for lunch.  1 whole mid-afternoon.  For dinner I made tilapia, spinach, and garlic in a zip-n-steam bag AGAIN and impulsively threw in a few cherry tomatoes in it as well.  It was good – it almost tasted like italian food.

Almost Friday!  And you know what that means!

Quick post today, I’m running late this morning.  Bah humbug on the big fat zero that I got from the scale.  But it’s ok.   Tomorrow’s another day!

My meals:  1 whole apple in the morning.  About 8 strawberries about an hour later.  That’s the first time you’ve seen me have strawberries during P2 and they were FABULOUS.  It felt like a cheat.  I shouldn’t have had them so close to the apple but I did.  And once again it was about emotional eating.  Despite the fact I did this my total calorie intake for the day was less than  500.  Spinach and grilled chicken for lunch.  Asparagus and tilapia for dinner.

xoxo!

I’m getting down to the wire here, so close to reaching my goal weight. All along I’ve been kind of undecided about what my goal weight would be, but after trying all my clothes on over the weekend and realizing I’m in my size 10′s – I think 10 more pounds will be goal. So 145-ish. That’s a great weight for a tall girl (5′ 9″) – anything less will be too thin.

Also technically I’m only supposed to do one more week for a 42 day round but I’m probably going to extend an additional week if I need to. I honestly think it will be a challenge to drop another 10 pounds in two weeks. We’ll see. I may not get there.

I really want this to be my last round, and I want the next two weeks to go well for me. Two more weeks means I will be on VLCD on my birthday and I don’t even care. I will find other ways to celebrate and I will have cake later.  Specifically my favorite strawberry cake.  It’s the cake I *always* request for my birthday, even when I was a wee girl.

My meals: 1 whole apple in the morning – I was hungry.  I think I was hungrier than normal because I did an injection skip day yesterday.  Lunch was the grilled chicken wraps again (chicken, lettuce, pico de gallo). No mid-afternoon snack.  For dinner I made a spicy tomato soup with organic chicken broth, tomatoes, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, and I even added some pico de gallo – and my tilapia. In retrospect it wasn’t a very smart menu choice since I basically had tomatoes for both meals. And mixed vegetables *again*. Oh well.  It was delicious.

Today I’ll be a good, strict Dr. S minion :-)

VLCD Day 34: Lunch (Grilled chicken wraps with pico de gallo)

Today’s Weight: 155.6
Today’s change: -1.8
Total R2 weight lost: 23.5
Body fat / Daily change: 26.3/ -.4
BMI / Daily change: 22.9/ -.3

I went to the grocery store today to pick up a few things and while I was the produce section the pico de gallo caught my eye.  I’ve been missing mexican food tremendously and after reviewing the nutritional information (nothing funky in it at all) I bought some of the hottest they had.  The chicken wraps I made were divine and I can see how this could become a new VLCD obsession for me.  Yes I mixed veggies.  I do that occasionally.

I also added to my regimen a daily tea made with 1 teabag each of:  yerba mate tea, green tea, and dandelion tea.  I read about this on the forum and many were seeing good weight loss when drinking this twice a day.  This was the first day I did this and I lost 1.8 – so I’ll keep drinking it fo sho!

I spent my day cleaning house a bit and doing laundry – listened to rockin’ good music all day and danced and sang my way through my chores.  Oh and as of yesterday I am pain free, *finally*.  I’m so grateful for that.  So I get to resume my belly dancing classes this week YAY!

My meals:  1/2 apple mid-morning.  Grilled chicken wraps with pico de gallo for lunch.  1/2 apple mid-afternoon.  For dinner I cooked tilapia and asparagus with cajun seasoning in a Zip-n-Steam bag.
